Our first step in this project will be to duplicate Bomberman. Bomberman is a game in which there are two players. One can either be the computer playing against you, or a second player. The objective is to use bombs to blow each other up. Both characters are placed in a grid with walls that can be blown up, and walls that cant. Some of these walls will produce power ups when they are blown up. These power ups can extend the range of the bomb, make a player move faster, or give the player the ability to throw the bomb. When the bombs detonate, they detonate in a T shape. Usually both players have a life bar, and won’t die instantly should a bomb explode and hit them. However, you have to be careful because you can get hit by your own bomb. In order to really win, you have to trap the other player within walls that cannot be blown up. Otherwise the other player will be able to escape. If a certain time goes by and the players still have not killed each other, then bombs will appear in random occasions to speed up the process of the game. Our Bomberman will only have 5 levels and that will be a high target for us. Originally we just need to get the game running with just one level. Once we are done simply making Bomberman, we will proceed to add a Final Fantasy VII theme to the game if there is still time. The Final Fantasy VII theme will replace the original power ups with power ups based from the game Final Fantasy VII. Instead of bombs maybe, we can use materia, a source of power in Final Fantasy VII, as the primary weapon. However, this theme will be an additional aspect to the game only if time allows us to incorporate it into our Bomberman.

George Zourabian will be responsible for all of the Web Editing as well as any other assignments such as Powerpoints.

Brian Liu is responsible for all photo editing.

Spencer Ozaki and David Fu are the main programmers

Our Layered Development Schedule is as follows:

1) Our Low Target

a) Recreate a simple Bomberman with vector graphics by April 3rd

2) Our Desirable Target

a) Replace the vector graphisc with Sprites by April 17th

3) Our High Target

a) Add 4 more levels to a fully functioning Bomberman by May 8th

4) Our Extras

a) Add a Final Fantasy VII theme by the due date of the project.

Assessment:

The main strength of our game will be the Final Fantasy VII theme if we have to incorporate it. It'll be cool because we are going to be the first people to create a Bomberman that is Final Fantasy VII based. There are many cool power ups that we can put into the game that will make it really fun. We are basically combining a classic game with a classic game. How can we go wrong!? Either Bomberman fans or Final Fantasy VII fans would love to play this game. There is no world view in this game, but a simple design through which the players will move through. In order to judge whether our game is a success, you will just need to compare it other Bomberman games and see how much we have been able to replicate.
